Bharat NF Foundation, along with SRCC Children’s Hospital managed by Narayana Health, launched a support group that is first of its kind for parents whose children have NF1. NF1 is a very rare hereditary disorder of the nervous system wherein tumors grow on the nerves throughout the body. Diagnosed mostly during childhood, symptoms usually seem pretty early; there is currently no cure for NF1, meaning treatment revolves around managing its symptoms throughout life.

Realizing the deep impact of NF1 on families, the Bharat NF Foundation, led by Dr. Sudhir K. Gupta, has come ahead with a mission with SRCC Children’s Hospital, along with CSR contributions from Cotecna India Pvt. Ltd, to do much more than mere medical treatment and offer emotional and practical support to families battling complexities of NF1. Dr. Sudhir K Gupta said, “We are really excited about the partnership: This partnership with SRCC Children’s Hospital is really going to make a huge difference in extending our help towards families affected with this condition. We really feel that such initiative will make the life of these children and families much more liveable by informing and extending preliminary support.”

“Our goal is comprehensive, compassionate care for NF1 children. The NF Parents Support Group will provide vital resources for families to connect, share experiences, and access support.”, according to Sr Consultant Paediatric Neurology at SRCC Children’s Hospital, Dr Anaita Hegde, will be an extremely valuable resource for families coming together to share their experiences and seek support.

The NF Parents Support Group, facilitated by the Bharat NF Foundation, empowers those affected with peer support, educational resources, and advocacy for a more informed community. The holistic approach by SRCC Children’s Hospital ensures all treatment facilities are available under one roof, as a management strategy for NF1 requires multidisciplinary care. This initiative, therefore, reflects the commitment of Bharat NF Foundation and SRCC Children’s Hospital to improve the lives of children with NF1 and bring hope and comprehensive support to families battling the tough disorder.
